Een beetje cannabisliefhebber is niet vies van wat ‘groene porno’ zoals ze het weleens gekscherend noemen. Maar de macrofoto’s en video’s van Erik Christiansen aka erik.nugshots kun je moeilijk als groene porno classificeren, dat is gewoon Kunst met een hoofdletter K. Zo mooi zagen we wiet nog nooit!

Erik Christiansen heeft zich gespecialiseerd in cannabis fotografie. In 2009 richtte hij de website Nugshots.com op, een beeldbank speciaal voor cannabisbedrijven die hun mooiste wiettoppen haarscherp in beeld gebracht willen hebben. Erik maakt stockfoto’s en werkt in opdracht en neemt zijn werk zeer serieus. Neem de openingsfoto van deze post, een geweldige macro van een Blue Cookies top; Erik spendeerde vele uren in zijn studio om iedere trichoom haarscherp in beeld te brengen. Een foto als deze maak je niet even maar bestaat in feite uit 190 foto’s die allemaal op een ander punt focussen. Door de foto’s over elkaar heen te leggen ontstaat deze wonderlijke wereld van trichomen.

Trichomenvideo

Hebben we je aandacht? Het wordt namelijk nog veel mooier wanneer je Eriks video’s ziet. Check de macrovideo hieronder maar. Het is een video van één enkel suikerblaadje en ziet eruit als een onontdekte planeet die bestaat uit plakkerige trichomen. Als je goed kijkt kun je zelfs de allerkleinste trichomen zien zitten, moet je nagaan dat deze op stammetjes groeien die slechts uit 14 cellen bestaan.

A single leaflet from a sugar leaf of Blue Cookies (same plant as the last few shots) I can’t decide what I like the most about this capture. It could be the deep red and purple colors, or the fact that only one side of the leaf has that saturated coloring. It could also be the effect that the curvature of the leaf has on the look of the trichomes, it looks like there are WAY more trichomes on on side. Although, for the trichome nerds out there like me, the coolest part may just be how obvious the smallest trichomes, the “bulbous” and “capitate-sessile” trichomes are (on the convex side of the leaf only). They sit flush with the leaf surface and are easy to miss, look closely! We’re used to seeing and discussing “capitate-stalked” trichomes; nobody really talks about the smaller kinds. Bulbous and capitate-sessile trichomes have stalks only 1-4 cells high, so they are usually obscured beneath a thick canopy of capitate-stalked trichomes. I’m assuming that the smaller amber colored heads are the bulbous trichomes, and the clearer almost pancake looking ones are the capitate-sessile trichomes. River of gold

Wie nog niet genoeg gezien heeft, moet maar eens een kijkje nemen op Eriks Instagram pagina want daar vind je nog veel meer van deze prachtige macro’s. Tot slot nog even eentje voor de rosin-freaks onder ons. Er werd in drie dagen tijd bijna 500 gram wiet geperst om deze gouden rivier van concentraat te kunnen filmen! Daar krijg je toch trek van of niet?

Rivers of gold 🎗🌊 Huge shoutout to @rosinevolution for squishing over a pound with me until we got the shot! The margin of error was razor thin on this, capturing the drip in the center of the frame in nearly perfect focus took us nearly 40 squishes over the span of three days. Shot with the Canon MP-E at approx 3:1. Created from 723 still photos played back at 24fps.
